ISA National Powerboat Certificate

Looking to get a fun weekend on the water? Ever wanted to try out power-boating and get qualified? This is the course for you!

This is a two-day course offering an ISA National Powerboat Certificate. The course is designed to be an all-round guide to power-boating. Learn how to operate a variety of craft, from 10 horsepower tiller arm French YAK boats to our latest 130 horsepower Zodiac Pro RIB.

The course runs from 10am-4pm Saturday and Sunday.

Who should do this course?

Minimum attendance age is 16. We recommend you wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet. While you probably won’t get wet, we do encourage packing for every eventuality!

What’s covered?

  • Basic controls - turning in confined spaces/3 point turns.

  • Anchoring

  • High speed handling

  • Man-overboard maneuvers

  • Rules of the road

  • Coming alongside

  • Tying up to a dock

  • The associated knots

Terms and Conditions:

  • Our powerboats are club property, and club members must request permission from the marina manager if they require them outside of the course.

  • Powerboat clothing is NOT provided but we do provide buoyancy aids for each participant.

  • The places on each course are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

  • Poolbeg Yacht and Boat Club sometimes uses photographs of customers participating in activities for marketing and promotional purposes. By enrolling in this course you consent to pictures of you being taken and used for promotional purposes, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
