Looking to get a fun time on the water? Ever wanted to try powerboating. For somebody with no experience, we deliver the Introduction to Powerboating Course. The aim of this course is to provide a short practical introduction to boat handling and safety on powerboats being used on all Irish waters. Duration of the course 1 day 9am to 5pm, minimum 7 hours contact time.

The National Powerboat Certificate is a two-day course offering an IS National Powerboat Certificate. The course is designed to be an all-round guide to power-boating. You will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to safely, and effectively skipper an open powerboat, by day, on inland and coastal waters with which you are familiar.

Duration 9am-5pm both days. Minimum contact time is 14 hours.

Who should do this course?

Minimum attendance age is 16. We recommend you wear non-slip shoes, hat, sailing top and bottom rain clothes, we do encourage packing for every eventuality!

Terms and Conditions:

  • Our powerboats are club property, and club members must request permission from the marina manager if they require them outside of the course.

  • Powerboat clothing is NOT provided but we do provide buoyancy aids for each participant.

  • The places on each course are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

  • Poolbeg Yacht and Boat Club sometimes uses photographs of customers participating in activities for marketing and promotional purposes. By enrolling in this course you consent to pictures of you being taken and used for promotional purposes, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
